A quarter of a century ago, cubic capacity ruled – and Yamaha captured the true spirit of the time with the introduction of the awesome VMAX in 1985. With its massive 1,198cc V4, 4-stroke, 4-valve DOHC engine kicking out 140PS, this radically-styled muscle bike became an instant legend which established itself as the definitive cult-bike. With around 100,000 units sold during its production run that spanned three decades, the original VMAX made history by being included in the Guggenheim Museum’s ‘Art of the Motorcycle’ exhibition while still in production. There has never been anything to beat it…until now…

The MT-03 has a light, compact, fuel-injected engine that's full of power for instant thrust, and a short-wheelbase with a focused centre of gravity that allows remarkable control and excellent traction on all kinds of roads. It is a bike that comes with Kodo as standard, the Japanese word for 'soulbeat' - epitomised by the sound and pulse of the MT-03's big single in action.

What you're feeling is natural. It's the excitement, tinged with awe, of viewing a XJR1300. This is a big machine. It's big on power, big on technology, and big on street-dominating style. It's an eye-grabbing engineering masterpiece that bonds classic air-cooled engine design with four valves per cylinder, fuel injection and a great-sounding EXUP exhaust. The superbly balanced chassis completes the picture, with a double cradle tubular steel frame. This is a machine that comes with style and size.
